Cardinal Classic and CPC Concessions
Cardinal Classic on Saturday, September 3
Our big home meet, the Cardinal Classic/Mentor Invitational, is coming up next weekend at Garfield Park. There will be several teams of runners, lots of busses and cars and lots of cheering fans. The Pack Club runs the concession stand, sells parking/entrance fees (per car), manages the traffic flow and provide volunteers along the course to keep the runners safe and on the correct route. It’s a big busy day but only lasts until late morning/early afternoon-ish. We are still in need of volunteers for COURSEWORK and PARKING. Please remember—each family is asked to bring six 20 ounce bottles of Gatorade for the concession stand.
Cardinal Parent Club Concessions (CPC)
The Cardinal Parent Club is sort of the umbrella organization for all of the athletic teams at Mentor High School. They do lots of great things and provide funding for many athletic projects. One of their main sources of income is concessions for home sporting events. Each team is responsible for providing volunteers for concessions during games for other teams. Karen Warner is our Cardinal Parent Club rep. Here’s some info from Karen regarding our first game assignments. Thursday, September 15 Volleyball Games
We will need 3-4 volunteers (with a minimum of 1-2 adults) to cover concessions. The volunteers can be a combination of MHS students (members of the boys track team), but we also need some adults to work along side the students. The JV game will start at 4:30, so if volunteers could report to the concession stand between 4-4:15 that would be very helpful. Judy Freeman will be there to let everyone know what has to be done. The varsity game will follow the JV games, so volunteers should plan on working until around 8 PM (maybe a little later depending on the crowd.)
Monday, October 10 Girls Soccer Games
We will need 2-3 volunteers (with at least 1 adult) to cover these concessions. The JV game will start at 5 PM, so if volunteers could arrive between 4:30-4:45 that would be great! The varsity game will follow at 7 PM, so volunteers should plan on working until around 8:30 pm. All games are played at the soccer stadium.
Couple of things to remember:
1. All volunteers are admitted into each event for free. Please tell your volunteers to alert the gate attendants that they are there to work concessions in order to be admitted for free.
2. All student/player volunteers must be MHS students.
3. All student/player volunteers can earn community service hours for volunteering. Please remind them to bring their forms with them that day to be signed.
