1989 Boys Cross Country

The Mentor Boys won the district title for the fifth straight year and the GCC crown for the 11th straight year. Mentor was second in the regional meet to qualify to state meet, the 7th time in a row. At the state meet, the Cards finished 15th.
College Note: Senior Eric Ashton of Malone College finished 5th in the NAIA Nationals for 5 mile on a very hilly course to become All-American in cross country for a third time. Jerry Fresenko was 17th in the same race 25:28 to become All-American for a second time. Malone finished second in the national championship race.
