The Mentor Boys won their seventh straight GCC Championship with the ridiculously low total score of 21 points.  The top 5 for Mentor in the GCC race were: Eric Ashton, Jerry Fresenko, Ken Stump, Mike Damon, and John Rintamaa.  56 Runners from 8 schools were in this race.  Mentor also won the district and regional championships before heading the Columbus  to win the schools first state title in any sport since 1934.  In addition to being state team champs, Ashton and Fresenko were on the News Heralds all area first team.  From this team AShton and Fresenko accepted scholarships to Malone College in Canton and Chuck Moore went on to an outstanding running career at Cleveland State.  The Mentor Boys were also selected by the Harrier Magazine as one of the top high school teams in the nation!
